Should it be 'in earliest times' or 'in earliest ages'?
Historians can't tell us when or where or how the first food was cooked. In earliest TIMES/AGES ,people had eaten their food uncooked ,and fire was used only to provide heat and light.

"Earliest" is incorrect. BTW, I disagree with this statement. I'm sure people have always known how to cook.

It seems to me that either should be fine.
