About the term of " be mixed up" I think this term in title has several meanings in different contexts. I summarized a few meanings as follow. Are they correct? Do you know any other meaning about it? 1. I got a little mixed up when I started to go over my notes.(=get confused) 2. Please don't get mixed up with him. Or you will regret it.(be connected with a bad person) 3. Someone got mixed up in that corruption scandal.(be connected with an unpleasant thing)

Good job, they are all correct. One more to add is to get two things confused. 'I always mix up my friend's brother's names.' This means I call the brothers by the wrong names. If one were named Steven and the other John, I would call John Steven and Steven John. Hope that makes sense, heh.

Yes you're right. 1 = To be confused 2 = To be involved with someone 3 = To be involved or connected in the incident
