Which phrase is right? "soil erosion and water loss","water loss and soil erosion" or both?

There is little difference, unless the larger context of the phrase would change the meaning. Does water loss lead to soil erosion? In which case:
"The region has experienced profound water loss and soil erosion."

"Soil erosion and water loss" is the one I would say. No specific reason why, other than it's the most native-sounding.
