''I have to do something'' Vs ''I've got to do something''?
Hello!
If I should do something, when I'm supposed to say ''I have to....." and ''I've got to .....''?
Thank you in advance. If I wrote the question in a wrong way, Could you kindly correct it to me please? Thank you

In American English, you can say both, but "I've got to do something" is stronger in tone than "i have to do something." Americans are also more likely to say "I gotta do something" than "I've got to do something."

Both are considered correct and would be understood.
I would expect to see "I/we have to" more often in formal writing, as compared to "I've/We've got to", though both would be understood and no one would take exception to it.
