why do some pronounce "dinner" as "die-ner"?
it shouldn't be as far as i know.

There is also a word Diner, are you sure you aren't getting it confused?

If you're living in a southern country {Virginia, Texas, Alabama,etc.} then you may hear people pronounce "dinner" as "die-ner" because of their southern accents.

I am from New Jersey, I think the state with the most diners in the US. They sometimes have lots of chrome, marble, and mirrors, and are commonly run by Turks or Greeks. There's the Diamond diner, the Empire diner, Six Brother's diner. I guess you probably read about diners on the internet.
