I thought the way you behaved was ____ outrageous.
A. very
B. quite
C. extremely
D. exceptionally
Note: I chose B out of intuition; I wonder why the other answers don’t fit. Is it because the word “outrageous” already contains the idea of “very” and “extreme”?

You are correct. Though if you said any of them people would understand you completely. In casual speaking, sometimes people even use redundant words to stress a point in a joking sort of way. You might hear "wow, you are really, super, extremely outrageous!". Just to emphasize just how outrageous it is.

Well done! Using any of the options would be redundant because outrageous is already an extreme in itself. Many native speakers make this mistake (and very often).

I think you are on the right track. Adverbs like very and quite are unnecessary, the same for extremely. That leaves D.

i'd say "absolutely" rather than any of the above

:) Those popped up in my head starting with letter 'f'. You are right, some words are better left to the imagination.
