for all she cared, reading John Grisham's "Runaway Jury": She sped away in a rented car, watching every movement behind her. Her leased car was sitting in front of her condo, abandoned for all she cared. 1. rented care, leased car, any difference? 2. what does "for all she cared" mean ? thank you for your help and your time

1. A "rented car" is usually a car that you don't own, but you are paying to use for a few days. A "leased car" is usually a car you don't own that you are paying to use for a longer period of time, like a few years. 2. "for all she cared" is an expression of indifference. It generally means somebody doesn't care at all about what the other person says or does (kinda similar to "She couldn't care less"). So she doesn't care at all about the state of her car. Examples: "That man could go to hell, for all she cared."

1. Same meaning 2. "as far as she was concerned" --It didn't matter if anything happened to it. She didn't care.
