What does "ACCOUNTANT" mean? I use Kenkyusha’s Shoter English-Japanese dictionary. According to this dictionary, "ACCOUNTANT" means accounting, paymaster and certified public accountant. I used "ACCOUNTANT" as accounting. Some friends on italki thought "ACCOUNTANT" as certified public account. I think that only "ACCOUNTANT" would be near to accounting rather than certified public accountant. Because I think that only "ACCOUNTANT" wouldn’t mean a license usually. Certified accountant or licensed accountant means a license. And I think that "ACCOUNTANT" is used as certified public accountant, if there is certified public accountant before sentence. Please answer my question. TOSHI

An accountant is someone who does accounting, whether it is for a business or for taxes they are still an accountant. A CPA (certified public accountant) is widely known as the type of accountant that would help with taxes. I don't know if that helps as I'm a little confused on what you are asking.
