What does "have a higher opinion of" mean? 1.The high standing of professional, including doctors, has been eroded as a consequence. 2.In the past, people had a higer opinion of doctors than they do today. Do the above two sentences have the similar meaning? What does "have a higher opinion of" mean?

We say "to have a high opinion" or "to have a low opinion" of someone. A high opinion of someone means you think of that person with respect, and you "hold him/her in high esteem". The sentences both suggest the same thing: that doctors are not as respected today, compared to the respect they received in the past.
