1) die Abwägung/Entscheidung fällt zu Gunsten von X aus = the consideration/decision favours X; the result of the consideration/decision is to favour X. Converse form: "die Abwägung/Entscheidung fällt zum Nachteil von X aus".

2) "unterschiedlich zu Gunsten" is a rather bad way of phrasing it. From the numbers, it means that the rate of "aspetische Lockerungen" is significantly larger (well, by 1 %; I wouldn't call that significant, and the p-value seems dodgy, too ...) for the group of patients under 50 years.

The recommended way to write it is "zu Gunsten", BTW. "Zugunsten" is alte Rechtschreibung, but still valid.
