What does 'is expected' mean in this sentence? The politician, along with the newsmen, is expected shortly. Does this sentence mean 'people expect the appearance of the politician followed by the newsmen'? Thank you.

I believe that you are spot-on! When a politician appears, he is always followed by the news media. In other words: The politician and the accompanying reporters are expected very soon.
