Ok, normally shiver is just by itself. "He shivered from the cold" is normal use. But in this case, it is used to imply you do it so much, it makes you the opposite. It is kind of joking. There are other examples: To drink yourself sobre (when you drink so much alcohol, you feel you are sobre - you probably are not!) To snore yourself awake (you snore so loudly, you wake yourself up!)
