Originally, "electric" meant "using electricity," while the word "electronic" mean "using vacuum tubes." Vacuum tubes were extensively developed in the 1920s through the 1950s and were the first devices that could amplify, switch, and produce oscillations at very high speeds. In a vacuum tube, you have a cloud of pure electrons moving through space by themselves, not within a metal wire, so they are "electron-ic" in a way that ordinary electricity is not.

Electrical devices use passive components like relays, mechanical switches, transformers, capacitors, resistors, motors, bulbs etc. These can work upto many thousands of volts (kilo volts for a transformer). These usually use AC voltage. Electronic devices use active components and solid state devices, such as transistors, diodes (LED's, Photo cells), thyristors, valves (in old days). These usually work on low voltages and mostly use DC voltage. Modern electronic equipment use microprocessors and computers which use integrated circuits (IC's) have millions of transistors, diodes etc. Electric is an adjective for example: electric heater, electric cooker, electric current etc.

Electrical used about things in general that use electricity but electronic used about equipment that work by using extremely small electrical parts, or about systems that work using computers
