Примеры:

— Поезд отправляется в ноль часов сорок пять минут с пятой платформы.
(Здесь используется только "ноль" — обозначение времени)

— Ноль целых три сотых литра (0,03 л) - это 30 миллилитров.

— Температура воздуха ноль градусов по Цельсию ( 0°C)

Both variants are used. "Ноль" is more frequently used. There are some fixed word combinations in which only one variant is used. For example "Начнем с нуля". It means , We will start from the beginning.

Though there will be no misunderstanding or confusion if you use the "wrong" word. )) So you do not have to worry about these two words. ))
