The meaning of these two words are close, but not the same. As 马先生 says, 'fast' describes the speed of something. For example: This train is very fast. How fast is your broadband connection? 'Quick' describes how little time something takes. For example: Can I ask you a quick question? The teacher had a quick word with the students before the exam. And don't forget that while the adjectives are 'fast' and 'quick', the adverbs are 'fast' and 'quickly'.

Both are adjectives and "fast" can be an adverb too (or "quickly"). "fast" is used to describe the speed or something and "quick" is used to describe how little time it takes.

No difference in meaning, but when used as adverbs fast stays "fast," while quick becomes "quickly." Example: He ran fast. or He ran quickly.

In the area of sports, there are two distinct meanings. Fast means a high top speed in running-- a sprinter. Quick means that the person can start from no movement to full speed with great acceleration-- but the top speed may not be high, so maybe not a sprinter. You can have "quick hands" or "quick on his feet", but usually you would not say "fast hands" or "fast feet". You would say a "fast runner", but probably not a "quick runner".

Fast is used especially to describe a person or thing that moves or is able to move at great speed. and it is more used when you're talking about the speed that somebody or something moves at Quick is more often used to describe something that is done in a short time or without delay . and quick is sometimes used as an adverb in very informal language espicially as an exclamation : come on,quick ! They'll see us . quicker is used more often :my heart started to beat much quicker . the quicker i get you away from here, the better
