Peachy has answered the basic question.
I'm not sure "inform" is the word you want here. "I need to inform myself" sounds a bit wrong.

You perform the action and also receive the action, so you use "myself". The subject and the object are the same.
"I have to inform myself..."
Different subjects and objects don't use -self.
"You have to inform me..."

Neither of those seem right. I wonder if 'I need to find out' might be a more natural translation?
