Do people still use the expression "ye"? What does it mean exactly?
I was reading an old book and I saw the word "ye". I was a few confused because I don't know exactly if people still use this expression nowadays!

'Ye' is an archaic form of 'you'.
Many people mistakenly believe that it is also an old form of 'the'. This is not true.
'The' has always been pronounced 'the'. At an earlier time, the 'the' sound was written with a now extinct letter which looked a little like a 'y'. In more modern times, people presumed that it was pronounced 'y'.
So, whenever you see a souvenir shop or cafe called 'Ye Olde Cottage' or some such kitsch nonsense, remember, it's not 'Ye'. It's just 'the'.

It is very archaic and hasn't been used in hundreds of years. It can be the plural form of "you" or it was used in place of "the"

"Ye" is old English for either "you " or "the" depending on the sentence.
