know vs know about vs know of 1 I know Jim=We're friends. 2 I know about Jim=I've heard a lot about him. 3 I know of Jim=I've heard about him once or twice. Are the above interpretations correct?

1 doesn't necessarily mean "like". It does imply, at least compared to the others, that you know him well enough to have an opinion about him. 2 and 3 mean more or less what you wrote.
