"I have to go to the bank to get some money."
The grammar is called "infinitive of purpose". If you use a gerund, it sounds awkward and unnatural; we use a form like "for getting" to describe a function.

I'm going to the bank to get some money. But I'm not sure about (for getting). Maybe it's right to say it, but it's not common to say it.
