what is the difference between heat and hot? answer in spanish please.

Hi, ok, en el concepto que yo manejo, la diferencia es que heat es un sustantivo que traduce en en español como calor, por ejemplo: the heat of the sun: el calor del sol.
Mientras que hot un adjetivo que traduce en español como caliente, por ejemplo: the soup's really hot: la sopa está realmente caliente.....

to heat = calentar
