Why do "sense" and "sensibility" mean differently or even oppositely?
I've been reading the book Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. And I keep wondering that why these two words have the opposite meanings? One is kind of more rational while the other one is more of emotional, right? However, it seems like "sensibility" drives from the word "sense" but ends with opposite meaning. Why is that and what will be the best or logical way to understand these two words?

Congratulations on studying 'Sense and Sensibility' and one of the reasons for Jane Austen's title is that the two words seem the same but have almost opposite meanings. Try to think of Sense meaning sensible and Sensibility meaning sensitive.

In my opinion " sense" means that the feeling you have or a also it is a verb. For the other word, it means " the ability to sense "
