intact
King Tutankhamen's tomb was discovered virtually intact in 1922.
The main building of the temple was destroyed by fire in 1965, but the annex survives intact to this day.
Don't you say intactly? Does only "intact" work?

It's "intact" because it's an adjective, not an adverb. In the first sentence, it's describing how the tomb was when it was discovered, not the manner in which it was discovered. You could similarly say "I discovered the door closed." In the second sentence, it's the same thing - it's describing the tomb now, after it has survived. You could say "I survived unmarked."
