Is it こんばんわ or こんばんは?
こんばん means evening and then は is used as the topic particle, right? I've only heard it spoken and don't know if it's こんばんわ as one word or こんばんは as two.

That's a very good question, Austin!!
As Ryota mentioned, The correct way to write it is "こんにちは". Nowadays even some Japanese people use "こんにちわ" and I think that makes Japanese learners confused. It may be used amang friends, but it's not grammatically correct. Just a slang word. Like usage of "Anyways" in the US, I guess?? I hope this helps.:)

Hi from Japan. The correct answer is こんばんは. Because こんばんは is a short version of こんばんは...ですね(the evening is ....). So you should write こんばんは。
