Your question should be this: 'Is there a difference between "toward" and "towards" ?' And the answer is no, there is no difference in meaning. British English only uses 'towards', whereas American English prefers 'toward' and occasionally uses 'towards'. Canadian usage is closer to American. Australian/NZ uses both.
