Isn't "Anfang" masculine? I don't understand why "Anfang" changed to neuter here... Ich muss das Anfang des Monats bezahlen. Thank you!

Correct."Anfang" is masculine. In this sentece,"das" doesnt refer to "Anfang" but to "an amount of money" or whatever the speaker refers to...More precisely,das=that
