Manchmal höre ich die Partikel 'Also' im Position Null des Satzes, und manchmal Position 1.
z.B :

Version 3:  Ich brauche also mehr Zeit.

Welche Version richtig ist, hängt vom Kontext ab.
In der Version 1 'Also, ich brauche mehr Zeit.' stellt 'Also' eine nicht notwendige, sogenannte 'Gesprächspartikel' dar, vergleichbar mit dem englischen 'well'.

Version 2 'Also brauche ich mehr Zeit' und Version 3 'Ich brauche also mehr Zeit' sehe ich als gleichwertig an.
