"Curtir" used to mean prepare.
But, nowadays mostly in Brazil, "curtir" is a slang, and it means "like" or "enjoy".
Eu curto essa música = Eu gosto dessa música = I like this song.
Eu quero curtir a vida = I want to enjoy life.

Hi Michael,
Currently in Brazil, "Curtir" is a slang used insted of the word "Gostar", for example:
If you want to say "I like wacth movies" in portuguese, you could say: "Eu curto assistir filmes", this would be a way more informal of say and "Eu gosto de assistir filmes" that is a formal way of say the same thing.

Na verdade a palavra curtir é mais usada como calão e entre os jovens. Usa-se no sentido de se divertir.
Gostar é mais o equivalente à expressão inglesa I like ou I love
