Should be: "I had a blast last night" (past tense)
"Thanks for taking me out, I had a blast last night"
"I had a blast last night - a few friends came by and we went out for my birthday".

Yes, you could say "How was that party? It was a blast."
Blast is like saying fun or that was great.
