Chiefly British: A course of study to which students are tracked. The "stream" is used here firstly for not to say the "course" twice, and secondly it bears a bit more global meaning.

academic streams > the path you want to take academically . After my exams , I will choose to enter the science stream , not art stream . The course subjects I want to take then will be physics , chemistry and additional mathematics
