Stopover or Layover?
I would like to know the difference between stopover and layover.
According to the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, the both have the same meaning. But some native English speakers say there is a certain difference.
Someone says that it is a stopover when I have to stay more than one day at the airport on the way to a final destination and it is a layover when I stay there only a few hours at the airport until another flight is ready for boarding. On the other hand, the other person says the opposite. Even more, another person says that a stopover is British English and a layover is American English.
Could you tell me the difference between stopover and layover.
