It's a good question because they are very similar. In general, stationary refers to transport and static refers to a lack of movement by situations or things more generally.
"When the cyclist crashed into my car at the traffic lights, my car was stationary. I could not avoid him."
"Following significant fluctuations in commodity prices over the past few weeks, markets have settled and, more recently, prices have remained static."

Static is used to describe type of loads or state of structure,
- we say, this truss is statically determined, or it is subjected to static load.
*stationery is used to describe equipement or engines those has portable types,
-we say, stationary diesel engine, ( we have portable engine in iwan mowers and motorcycles)

Just a side note...
Be careful not to confuse 'stationary' - meaning 'temporarily immobile' - with 'stationery', which is a collective noun for writing materials.
