If you enjoy children's books, then I recommend the author Roald Dahl. His books were some of my favorites when I was 9-12 years old, and I still have his entire collection on my shelf. His books are very famous and have been adapted into films, so you can watch the films too, if you haven't already. The stories are fun and the writing is simple. For example, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, Matilda, The Witches, James and the Giant Peach.

I recommend Hans Christian Andersen's short stories. I use them with my students and they enjoy the experience. It's a good starting point that allows us to work on their reading, speaking, listening and writing skills. A story can definitely help you learn new vocabulary and understand grammar better.

Can you please recommend a book TO ME that is short and interesting that I can learn English from? (End a question in a question mark. We recommend something TO someone.)
I would recommend a good English grammar book also. Reading a story will not teach you grammar.

The answers so far are good. ... If you do not want children's books, there are many classic short stories available for free.
Here is one from Mark Twain, it has both the written words and audio:
title: 'The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County,' by Mark Twain

From what I can remember, The Magic Treehouse series has pretty basic vocabulary, but is still interesting. Also, there are a bunch of them to read (so you won't have to keep searching for new books once you finish one)
