What is the difference between vestir and usar?
Olá !
o que representa a diferença entre Vestir e Usar?
Vestir Roupas
Usar Roupas
Is vestir more like trying it out in a store and usar more like wearing it throughout the day?
Obrigado :)

Ramon, the words can be synonymous. For example, the phrase "She is wearing pants" in portuguese we could say: "Ela está vestindo calças" or "Ela está usando calças".
But the verb "vestir" can also indicate the act of dressing up / putting clothes on. Ex.: "Ela está se vestindo". In this case, I couldn't use the verb "usar", because it means the clothes are already putted on.
The verb "usar" is also used in other cases, and could be transleted by the verb "to use" in English. However, the verb "vestir" is just associated with clothes.

Olá, Ramon! Both "vestir" e "usar" mean wear, but "vestir" is more about the action of putting the clothes on, while "usar" is really wearing it. Also "vestir" can only be used when talking about clothes and "usar" can be used when talking about a lot of other things.

Vestir ( verbo ) esta direcionado a roupas.
Ex: Eu estou vestindo uma calça Jeans.
Usar ( verbo ) esta direcionado a acessórios ou algum complemento.
Ex: Eu estou usando um relógio.
No português em uma conversa informal algumas pessoas podem dizer "Eu estou usando uma camiseta e um short ", porem não está correto.

Hello Ramon!
I think is interesting verify the translation for these words in English:
VESTIR = "to dress" (act or fact of clothing, dressing).
USAR = "to use", "to employ", "to make use of", "utilize".
So you can see those verbs are totally different. But as in English you can apply the verb "USAR" to clothes too.
These examples show how the meaning is still at least a litle be different even when the English translation can be the same:
- Ele vestiu o casaco. [He put on the coat]
- Ele usou o casaco. [He used the coat]
- Estou vestindo uma saia. [I'm wearing a skirt]
- Estou usando uma saia. [I'm wearing a skirt]
NOTE:
The idea of "trying it out" in your questions has the verbs EXPERIMENTAR or PROVAR in Portuguese.

No caso específico relacionado à roupa não vejo nenhuma diferença.
