a funny story that happened to me if u find some incorrect grammar o other mistakes . please tell me . thank u ! there are many interesting events that occured in my life. and some of them not only make me have a profound impression but also give me a lesson. today i want to tell u a funny story about cooking ,that happened to me recently. i remember, it was one day of last month, my mother invited some best girl friends to dinner together in my home, to celebrate her promotion. she prepared to cook a lots of dishes and told me ----a green hand in cooking, to help her. but when i made a main course-dapanji--a particular spicy Chinese cuisine ,i mistook salt and sugar . therefore, on that night , we ate a sweet and spicy cuisine . i believe most of beignners in cooking would make the same mistake as me. since we only look their similar aspects to make a decision, however we ingore to taste its flavor. so that's why i suppose it is a funny story that happened to me.

These are my corrections: There are many interesting events that have occured in my life. Some of them have not only made a profound impression on me, but also taught me a lesson. Today I want to tell you a funny story about cooking that happened to me recently. I remember, it was one day last month, my mother invited some good friends to dinner at our home to celebrate her promotion. She prepared a lot of dishes and told me to give her a hand with the cooking. But when I made the main course, dapanji - a particular spicy Chinese cuisine, I mistook the salt for sugar. Therefore, that night, we ate sweet and spicy cuisine. I believe that most beginners at cooking would make the same mistake as me. It's perhaps because it's easier to just look at the appearance of the ingredients, while forgetting to taste them. I suppose it is a funny story that happened to me.

Hi Sherry! Here is a corrected version of your story. If you find some incorrect grammar or other mistakes, please tell me. Thank you! There are many interesting events that have occurred in my life, and some of them not only had a profound impression on me but also taught me a lesson. Today I want to tell you a funny story about cooking that recently happened to me. One day last month, my mother invited some (of her/my) best girl friends to dinner at my house to celebrate her promotion. She prepared to cook lots of dishes and told me, a green hand in cooking, to help her. But when I made dapanji, a particularly spicy dish of Chinese cuisine, I confused salt and sugar. So on that night, we ate a sweet and spicy dinner. I think most beginners in cooking would make the same mistake as me, since salt and sugar look similar. So I suppose it is a funny story that happened to me. Keep in mind that in some sentences I shortened what you were saying, but still kept the meaning. This is not a word-for-word correction, and you still made your point clear in your post. Hope this helps!

I apologize somewhat, Sherry. I would never have imagined that you thought "u" and "o" were actual words in normal use. Your English teachers should be ashamed for not teaching you more correct English. :)

I'm not going to answer your question, but I do need to call your attention to a VERY funny story. It was written in the 1800s, it is not easy English, but take a look at it anyway: http://digital.library.upenn.edu/women/hale/papers/salt.html Here's the beginning. The rest of the story tells how the logical Peterkins tried to deal with the problem, and how the Wise Old Lady from Philadelphia finally solved it. The Lady Who Put Salt In Her Coffee This was Mrs. Peterkin. It was a mistake. She had poured out a delicious cup of coffee, and, just as she was helping herself to cream, she found she had put in salt instead of sugar! It tasted bad. What should she do? Of course she couldn't drink the coffee; so she called in the family, for she was sitting at a late breakfast all alone. The family came in; they all tasted, and looked, and wondered what should be done, and all sat down to think. At last Agamemnon, who had been to college, said, " Why don't we go over and ask the advice of the chemist? " (For the chemist lived over the way, and was a very wise man.)...
