What does "crowd favorite" mean?
I appreciate it if somebody tells me what "a crowd favorite" in the following sentences means. Does it mean "something very popular among many people"? I understand that both "crowd" and "favorite" are nouns, but "crowd" seems to be usede as an adjective. Is this a common usage of crowd?
<Example Sentences>
Talking about new emojis, food and animal-related icons appeared to be crowd favorites, while others clamored for more options.
Thank you for reading my question.

It means that people in the audience like the person or team even if they aren't likely to win the competition. Normally, this is because of their personality or something that has happened to them in the past.
