which is correct: there (is or are) no + plural noun
Which of these sentences is the best one grammatically?
- There is no stops in the verse.
- There are no stops in the verse.
Thank you.

The trick is to "flip the sentence around" to find the subject.
There is no stops in the verse. => No stops (in the verse) is there. (Subject is "stops". "Stops is" is wrong).
=> There are no stops in the verse.

"There are no stops" is grammatically correct. But you will notice if you listen to people speak English, that they often use the contraction "there's," which means "there is." This is because it is easier for the tongue to say "there's" instead of "there're," which is more correct. So if you learn to say "there are" and "there're," it is one way you will speak English better than I do.

It's according to the noun after ,There..is.... (singular noun)
There .are...... (plural noun)

"are", verb must be plural.
