How is the difference between "suppose" and "assume" ? If sth done by sb doesn't meet another one's expectation, which response would be possible to hear? I assume you have already finished it. I suppose you have already finished it. Thank you for your answering!

Really good question! If I use "assume", I am more certain that you have finished it. I think you have finished it. If I use "suppose", I am less certain that you have finished it. I think you have finished it but I am not certain.
