What is the best way to say "Go down the escalator" in Japanese:
1. エスカレーターを降ります。
2. エスカレーターを下ります。

You can use both. Both are correct in the stuation you go down something vehicle.
降りる get off 乗る get on
下りる go down 上がるgo up

エスカレーターを乗って下がっています。
that's what I'd say (but also read what Kanako said).
