Distinguish "On the verge" and "On the edge"?? what is the difference?

Well- there's a couple potential meanings. If you're speaking literally, being on the edge is like nearly falling off (if you go one step further). Like, "on the edge of a cliff." If you go one step more you'll fall right off. In a metaphorical sense, it means you're very close to something, and that is pretty much what "on the verge of" is meant to say as well ;) Hope that helps!
