This is an idiom that means to "express strong feelings in an angry way." To "unload" an object such as a truck or ship is to empty it of cargo. When you "unload on" someone, your words empty the anger inside you and send it to your listener.

"To unload on someone" means to attack them verbally and aggressively. I'm not sure of the analogy, but perhaps you could imagine him unloading his anger and frustration (as if they were physical things) on the media.
