Could you please illustrate the difference between 'except him' and 'except for him'?
Hi everyone I'm now a bit confused whether there's a difference between 'except him' and 'except for him' or not... could you give me a hand?
(There're some sentences...)
They weren't nice to me, except him.
They weren't nice to me, except for him.
Everyone came to school on time except him.
Everyone came to school on time except for him.

I would say that "except for him" is more proper, and "except him" is usually that way because it's easier to say. Another thing to consider is that if "for" wasn't used, it could be misheard as "accept him".

They have the same meaning. There's no difference.
