Recognize or Recognise? Which one is correct? Update: where to use which one?

"recognise" is UK spelling and is what I would write. If you have to choose something, then "recognize" is better because this spelling is also acceptable in the UK. "recognise" is known as the UK spelling in the USA and is not considered acceptable in US-specific contexts.
