아니나 다를까 https://instaud.io/109C Within this clip there is an expression that i got hung up on for a while til i sought help. 아니나 달러 is what she said. I checked daum and naver but it seems the original expression is 아니나 다를까 and below is the quote from each source: Daum - 짐작하거나 예상한 바대로 Naver - 과연 예측한 바와 같다는 말 Same definition and it sounds like an alternative way to say 역시 Here are my questions: A: instead of the standard pronunciation 달라 she goes by 달러 is this phenomenon pretty prevalent in everyday life? I am quite aware that happens but not sure if it is quite widespread in practice. B: i am not seeing much variation on that but only 다르냐 which is not much different from 다를까 as self interrogative ending, yet she is saying it quite differently. Why is that? C: by the way, anyone here is familiar with that accent at all? Which province or region is it typical of?

달라[달러] is the Seoul accent(서울 사투리) Ironically, Seoul accent is not a standard Korean. As you know, 아 of 달라 is also an interrogative ending.

People with gyunggido accent tend you pronounce (ah) as (eo). Not sure how common it is. Half of the SK population do live in the gyunggido area, but not sure how many choose to speak with the standard accent as opposed to the gyunggido accent. I grew up speaking the gyunggido accent, but after many years of not speaking Korean, I picked up Korean again, but this time unbeknownst to me, I start speaking the standard accent. Probably due to more exposure to the standard accent that I hear on Korean TV.
