vestito in italiano
"vestito" means clothing, but also a dress as well?
What about abbigliamento?

♦ You can interpret "vestito" as "suit", a complete( consistent) dressing, eg.
-- the sunday dress
-- the wedding dress
-- the gala dress
For men, it's generally made up of many elements; for women, it often is one only piece.
You know what I mean.
♦ Clothing( = garment) is a generic term for anything that could be dressed. It's not a "suit".
We translate Clothing with "Vestiario" (= un capo di vestiario).
♦ Abbigliamento is a generic term to describe what a person is dressing -- actually it's the object of Fashion.
-- Abbigliamento elegante
-- Abbigliamento casual
-- Abbigliamento sportivo
-- Abbigliamento per grandi occasioni (see: Vestito)
I suggest you to search Google images: I recently searched a term, and I liked a lot the results: the "Zoot suit" (this is actually an example of "Vestito").
