Does anyone know the history behind this similarity between the Russian and English alphabets? I noticed that in the Russian alphabet, this portion is remarkably close to that of the English / Latin alphabet: к л м н о п р с т у к = K л = L м = M н = N о = O п = P Excluding Q р = R с = S т = T у = U I thought it was interesting that they are very close in order to each other. Is there any sort of significance between these similarities? and if so, would you mind explaining when these languages branched off or adopted parts of each other in the past? Just curious about the history, thank you!

Hi Paul, Seems like they both based on Greek alphabet - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_alphabet

The Russian (or rather Cyrillic) and English alphabets were derived from the Greek and Latin alphabets, respectively. The Latin alphabet also evolved from Greek (through Etruscan), which in turn came from the Phoenician alphabet. You can find more info on Wikipedia
