How to say "by then" in French when discussing the past?
Bonjour,
I'm writing a summary of a literary piece and would like to say that by the time something had occurred, it was already too late.
WordReference says that it would be "d'ici là" but I don't think that's correct because such a term would be used to discuss an event in the future, not the past.
