Hello Renata, You usually use the verb 'pay' with attention - "He paid a lot of attention to the people who were there for him." Best wishes Bob

He gave a lot of attention to the people who were there for him. But I would personally say, He gave a lot of attention to the people who were there. Unless you wanted to specify that the people were there specifically for him. You could also change were there to attended. For example, he gave a lot of attention to the people who attended.
