Hello there! Yes it is correct. It is an english saying. Basically this phrase is used to describe a busy place. If you have seen a beehive before it makes sense why it became a common term :)
An example would be "On fridays, the mall is a hive of activity"
Another similar thing we might say that relates to this is "buzzing with activity" (In english buzz is what we use to describe the sound a bee makes)
Example "on fridays the mall is buzzing with activity"
Good luck! (^。^)

Hi there Sasha,
Maybe I can help you a little.
Just as Rami says, it means people are very busy with many tasks.
Here are a few examples:
- My office is a hive of activity because the CEO will visit us next week.
- My school was a hive of activity preparing for our annual homecoming parade.
These are typical examples using this expression.
I hope that helps you. Keep on learning!

"A hive of activity refers to many activities happening at the same time but which is organized in nature, like a hive. Which is constantly buzzing and active but every bee has its specific job. A non-chaotic activity hub. A place where people put in a lot of hard work."
