Manuel examples are correct, but do note that be careful using "arouse". Very often English speakers use this in the sexual meaning of the word. "She was aroused when he hugged her" "Are you getting aroused?" All have a very sexual meaning. So if you used an ambiguous statement it would really really throw off an English speaker. To boyfriend: "are you aroused yet?" He might be very confused what you mean, or not... Depending on situation. You also left one that is safe but not used a whole lot in daily life. "Arise" and past tense "arose". "He arose from the bed". Summary: Don't use arouse until you've mastered it's usage. Just use awake and wake they are more common.

Simple example: Mom to dad: Have you aroused Jon? Dad to mom: He sighed but did not awaken. I will arouse him now. Dad to son: Hey! wake up! Son to dad: I'm already awake!
