大家好! I have a question about "而言的话" I've read this: 我觉得相比外国人而言的话，... Wǒ juédé xiāng bǐ wàiguó rén ér yán dehuà, .... In the first part of this comparison sentence, why do you add "而言的话"..? What does it mean? Would the sentence be the same if I left this and just used "相比"? 谢谢!

相比外国人而言的话，这是一个重复病句。而言，就是的话的意思，去掉的话，才是正确的表达。相比外国人而言，就OK了，意思是，跟外国人相比较的话，会怎么怎么样。

the 相比…而言 is a fixed constructure. adding 的话 to a sentence makes it a consumption, something like the if clause in English. BTW, I think it's a correct sentence.
